  • Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

You won’t need planning permission for most driveways, only if you install a drop kerb or extend your existing driveway. You will require a permeable solution for this type of landscaping, such as resin bound surfacing.

  • Do I need planning permission for landscaping work?

You won’t need planning permission for most landscaping work unless you are altering heights or adding a playhouse or shed, so it is worth checking with your local authorities beforehand.

  • Do you offer any guarantees on new surfaces?

All of our surfaces come with a five-year guarantee.

  • What is the average turnaround for a new driveway?

This will depend on the size and what surface you are looking to install. A resin bound driveway on an existing base will usually take two days from start to finish. If you’re having a new base or going for asphalt or block paving, then you’re looking at four days on average.

  • Can a new outdoor surface be laid on top of an existing surface?

A resin bound driveway can be laid on an existing surfacing, either asphalt or concrete. However, we would check the surface’s suitability upon visiting your site.

  • Do you offer free quotations?

As part of our personalised and professional service, we offer free quotations and advice on a range of surfacing and garden designs.

  • Do you cover areas outside of Devon and Cornwall?

We do not offer driveway resurfacing solutions outside of Devon and Cornwall. We do not hire any subcontractors; our locally based team undertakes all projects.

  • Are there any further preparations I need to make before you undertake the work?

No, once everything is agreed upon and you’re happy with the design, we will sort everything from start to finish.

  • Is your work schedule weather dependent?

It can be, but we will keep you updated throughout the work process and before we commence if there is a delay.

  • How long does a tarmac driveway last?

Depending on the quality of the installation, usage and climate conditions. Tarmac/asphalt driveways can last between 15 and 20 years. However, if a tarmac driveway is not maintained correctly, these times can vary.

  • Is a tarmac driveway permeable?

Most tarmac is not permeable and does not allow liquids or gas to pass through their surface. Because tarmac is impermeable, water can collect and pool on the surface of your driveway. We would recommend a resin stone driveway if your current driveway is susceptible to standing water.

  • How to maintain a tarmac driveway?

To help ensure the long life of your tarmac driveway, it is vital to maintain your driveway properly. Adding a sealant to your driveway provides a barrier between the tarmac and any surface dirt or elements, keeping your driveway clean and looking new.

  • Can you pressure wash your tarmac driveway?

While tarmac is incredibly hard wearing, using a pressure washer or power hose on your driveway could damage the tarmac, especially in warmer weather where tarmac can become soft and malleable.

  • How soon can I drive on my tarmac driveway after it is installe

The drying time of tarmac can increase or decrease depending on the weather and air temperature. Typically a tarmac driveway can take around 12-24 hours to dry, depending on its size and scale. However, even if your tarmac seems dry, it may be best to wait at least 48 hours before driving on it. Our team will be able to confirm timings when they have completed laying your driveway.

  • What is a resin driveway?

A resin driveway, is an area, typically in front of a property where homeowners often park their vehicles and normally marks the entrance to the property, installed with a resin solution. Resin driveways are installed by mixing a solution of resin with stone chippings to create a low-maintenance, durable driveway.

Resin surfacing is an incredibly popular surfacing solution for pathways, patios and driveways. Resin surfacing is durable and attractive material made by mixing polyurethane resin and stones, gravel or chips of your choice.

  • What surface should my resin driveway be installed on?

Resin driveways are often chosen due to their permeable properties. To ensure you benefit from these properties, we recommend the surface of your driveway is also porous. Our team at iDream Solutions will be able to evaluate your existing driveway surface and discuss options with you.

  • Will weeds grow through resin driveways?

Weeds should not grow through your resin driveway because of the tightly packed bonding elements within the resin, weeds cannot grow through the resin, so you won’t have to worry about de-weeding your driveway.

  • Can resin be used for both pathway and patio installations?

Resin can be easily installed in many different areas, including

    • Patios
    • Pathways
    • Courtyards
    • Driveways

The smooth, attractive surface makes a fantastic exterior feature for any property. iDream Solutions offers many resin variations, so no matter your choice of colour or stone, we will have a resin surface for you.

  • Can I use a pressure washer on my resin drive?

Pressure washers, power hoses, jet washers can all be used on your resin driveway. Resin is incredibly hard wearing and pressure washing the driveway is a fantastic way to ensure it stays looking its best.

  • What colour resins do you have?

At iDream Solutions, we have a wide range of resin bound surfacing colours and stones for you to choose from. We often make bespoke resin bound mixtures for customers to ensure they get the best possible product for their project.
